Mexipino made his/her first appearance at a Notre Dame tailgate and SURVIVED! (Or should I say, mama survived!) It was a humid, muggy Saturday afternoon for any pregnant mama (actually any human being) to be waddling around any congested college campus. I honestly don’t know HOW I survived. Considering my first trimester mess, I deem that Saturday one of my many wins. Even the Irish started their home opener 1-0!
I brought a backpack with me for any emergencies. I foolishly asked my hubby days before “what if we run out of food?” My hubby’s family is Mexican and why would they ever run out of food? We ended up with dozens upon dozens of tamales, on top of hamburgers, wings, chips, salsa, guacamole, etc. We actually had so many tamales my mother-in-law and tia (aunt) went around the tailgating area with a wagon selling the rest of them!
Needless to say my emergency snack pack of pretzels were not touched.
What can I say? I’m pregnant and I’m super concerned I will be without food, more so…my baby will be without food and water. It was hard watching everyone drink nice, cold beer but I kept thinking…3 more months! But I was so glad that I survived from 10am-6pm. It was predicted to rain/storm, which it didn’t…and I WISH IT DID.
I wore my coveted overalls and was super grateful for the many pockets it had. I wish I took a picture of it, but at one point I had a bottle of water in my side pocket and a can of ginger ale in my chest pocket. I was a walking refreshment table. Don’t get me started on the porta-potties. They are gross by themselves, but being pregnant, hot, and without a ponytail tie…I literally could not. Plus pulling up my shorts in the sweltering heat…I don’t know how people wearing pants that day did it!
My emergency backpack also included: a sweater, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, tissues, and contact solution. Now that I’ve learned my lesson, I would have included a fan and EXTRA hair ties.
Read my post about the must haves during a tailgate : The Tailgate Tackle.
My hubby and mother-in-law went into the game and I left with the rest of the family to watch the game in the comforts of air conditioning and a clean toilet. I think that’s the best way to watch any sporting event.

Mexipino’s kicks are getting stronger, so much that I see my stomach move! I’ve even caught him/her kicking my laptop on video. I don’t think he/she likes anything resting on my belly!
I’ve become a human petting zoo. I don’t mind it, but it is kind of weird when strangers do it.
We brought the bump to where Steve & I had our first date! Let’s Spoon Frozen Yogurt!
I actually had some eggs and didn’t vomit! It was a sausage, egg muffin sandwich. I couldn’t finish it, but I survived! But I’m still unsure about eggs by themselves.
Mexipino got to meet mama’s best friends from college! I don’t know about the babe, but mama had fun painting with the girls! And speed golfing.
When I laugh, I can feel my belly button coming out. It’s so weird. And sometimes I think Mexipino is poking it out.
No new cravings; however, Mexipino ate a whole box of Captain Crunch Peanut Butter that was meant for mama’s friends. And mama may or may not be munching on a bowl right now…

My best friends and I went to Board & Brush and I personally recommend it! I plan to go back and make more fun things for my house!! You literally build your board and they trust you with a drill, hammer, and exacto knife! They also serve wine and beer! I almost dipped my staining cloth in my friend’s wine cup! I was just really into staining I guess!
It rained the whole time they were here, but I would rather spend rainy days with my most favorite people in the world.
