I love a good decorating trick. Not only that, something affordable and easy to do! With Christmas around the corner, I needed to add something more to my kitchen. I already have table decor, hanging ornaments, but I wanted to add depth to my kitchen cabinets. What you may ask? Christmas garland.
I wanted to fill the empty space between the ceiling and the upper cabinets. But, I wasn’t looking to break the bank! The reason I like Christmas garland is because they are a flexible piece of decoration that can be utilized anywhere!
The Inspiration
With inspiration from Pinterest, I found myself at Michaels! Luckily, I found 9ft garland at for $3.99. I purchased 3 of them with a lot of hope to make something completely stylish and functional!
The Creation
I used wire cutters to cut one in half: one half to fill the kitchen window and the other half to make one side of the upper cabinets look more full.

Now, I had a ton of red ornaments leftover from last Christmas. So I took what I had and plumped them on or around the garland. Nothing was holding them down. Then, I grabbed mini ones and hung them above the kitchen sink.
In all, the project would have costed one piece of already decorated garlands you could find in a store! Plus, it was so easy to make!! (Need more home decor ideas, look at past home decor ideas here.)
In the end, it created a simple and stylish piece of decoration that can be changed up as the years go by. It’s like a bridesmaid dress…shorten it and wear it again!
What are you creating this Christmas season?
