Spring is my favorite season. It’s a time of rebirth and reinvention. Flowers are blooming and the sun is shining. It’s neither hot or cold, it’s the perfect temperature. It is also the time of season when my sun dresses reappear from my closet, I dust off my flip flops and wedges, and turn the switch from heat to A/C in the car. It’s my favorite season.
One of the hard things to transition into is what to wear! After the bi-polar winter weather, I have been accustomed to my leggings, socks, shirt, and sweater. It doesn’t matter what I’m wearing, because my North Face just covers it all.
One of the questions I get the most is where do you shop? Where do you always find cute clothes? I’m a bargain hunter. I don’t buy expensive clothes, unless it’s a special, special occasion. Otherwise, I live for deals! That’s why I love Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, and the like.

So what are the Spring 2018 essentials? I have my top items listed below with links to similar items that are less than $50!
1) Maxi Dresses: What I love about maxi dresses is the fact that they are so versatile. They are perfect as a casual dress or a night out dress. This is a closet staple. Don’t want to shave your legs? Maxi dress. Feeling bloated? Maxi dress. It doesn’t matter what kind of footwear you’re styling, because most of the time your dress will cover it! Depending on your body type, they can make you look taller. If you are short, like me, sometimes I make a knot at the bottom. You can also style a simple dress with belts, a cover up, sunnies, or a sun hat. I love this dress or this one from Nordstrom Rack!
2) Sunnies: Sun glasses are a MUST. I had a high school teacher that wore sunglasses while we were taking a test. He did that so he can watch everyone, but to us we didn’t know who he was looking at. I don’t spend a lot of money on sunglasses because I always misplace mine and I’m naturally a clutz and drop them. They are the perfect accessory to compliment any outfit. This one is similar to the ones I rock and then this style seems to be getting super popular.
3) Cardigan : Spring weather can be bi-polar. Especially when it starts to get dark, it gets chilly. I am naturally cold…I think I have permanent goose bumps, that’s why I always have a cardigan on hand. They are perfect to put over a dress, t shirt, or tank top. This linen cardigan is perfect to compliment any outfit and this cardigan is great to match any sundress or t shirt.
4) Flats: Nude flats go with every outfit! If I had to chose between heels and flats, I will always chose flats. There are special occasions I will chose to suffer in heels, but flats is the better answer. You walk faster, you can bust all your dance moves in them, you are more comfortable, plus it is classic Audrey Hepburn, my fav! These flats have a twist in the classic flat. Loafers are also in style as well, these are really cute.
5) Straw hand bag: This was a trend from last summer that is making an appearance this year again! These straw bags remind of the beach, and who doesn’t love an opportunity to lay in the sun? Plus, you can put possibly everything in a bag! You sunnies, your sweater, wallet, charger…etc. It carries the essentials! Everything that you may need can fit in there, while looking stylish. This straw bag is perfect for everyone and this bag has the cutest handle!
6) Sweater : There will be spring days that will be cooler than the rest, but that doesn’t mean you have to bring your winter wear out. A thin, long sleeve sweater will do. I usually style a sweater with shorts or boyfriend jeans. You may think this is not an essential, but you will be second guessing that when the wind starts up. This sweater from Express has the cutest ruffles with cold shoulder detail and this sweater has that airy feel that can compliment shorts or jeans!
7) Colorful satchel: Pastel colors are making a comeback this spring. Not just in clothing, but in accessories. Like the straw bags, they hold everything you may possibly need. If you don’t want the beachy feel and you are more of a classic chic gal, I suggest getting one of these bad boys to carry your necessities in tow. This satchel has the cutest scarf tied on the handle and large enough to fit everything you need and this satchel is smaller, but just as stylish!
8) Block heel : I didn’t think these were tasteful, until I wore them for my wedding and loved them. Since there is more support on your heel, you can wear these longer than the popular stiletto heel. I love to style these with capri pants or a sun dress. These were starting to get popular last year, but I know they will get more cred this year! This block heel from Kohl’s is so cute and this block heel has the cutest fringe detail!
9) Boyfriend jeans : When I’m not feeling a dress, I will wear jeans. Especially when there is a chill in the air, these are my go to. You can dress them up with a belt. Wear it with a t shirt and flats or a nice tank top and block heels. There are so many options to style with boyfriend jeans. This distressed jeans are my favorite, I have the same style in my closet! And these jeans are simple and easy to style with other accessories!
